Snjallræði workshop three: unified vision and sustainable business models

The third of four Snjallræði workshops was held at Reykjavik University the weekend of 16-18th of October. Ásgeir Jónsson, lecturer at the Department of Business and Economics at Reykjavík University and one of Snjallræði coaching team, guided the teams through a variety of engaging and practical exercises.

The workshop, which is part of the MITdesignX methodology used in Snjallræði, carried the theme “Envision.” On the first day, the focus was on developing a clear and unified vision that aligns the team and keeps it on the right track. In addition, discussions centered on the importance of a sustainable business model, maintaining balance between income and expenses — regardless of whether the project is operated for profit or not.

On the second day, attention turned to the continued development of the strategy, including the design of the business model, marketing plan, and team culture and objectives. The sessions also explored the roles of the founders, communication, decision-making, and how teams can work together effectively and efficiently.

Collaboration and mutual feedback are the core of Snjallræði.
Each team learns not only from the coaches but also from one another — reflecting on the experiences, approaches, and perspectives of their peers. This peer-to-peer learning is one of the most important elements of the process; it creates a platform for sharing ideas, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and helps teams gain new perspectives, further develop their ideas, and build confidence in their own abilities. As a result, the entire process becomes both valuable and inspiring.

The workshop concluded with a refreshing dip at the geothermal beach in Nauthólsvík, a lively and enjoyable end to a busy and productive weekend.
